GAMEBOY COLOR This page has investigated the model number of the GAME BOY COLOR(GBC) hardware which Nintendo released. and, the model number is CGB-??? by consecutive numbers.
Probably, CGB is "Color Game Boy".
Please refer to these official pages about each peripherals. because, this page wrote based on the information in Japanese shop and on network. but I think that "probably, there is no difference, except a power supply (AC Adapter)".

CGB-002 Game Pak (Cartridge) Game Pak (Cartridge) for GameBoyColor. Game software capacity is 16Mbit?-32Mbit(2MB?-4MB).
CGB-003 Game Link Cable It can connect Two Game Boy, and battle or data-link can be performed. It is black color.
Game Link Cable compatible Mark This mark is printed by the package of Game Link Cable compatible software in Japan.
CGB-004 Unidentified.
CGB-005 Mobile Adapter GB The data can link on a network using a cellular phone or PHS.
Blue adapter can be used by the digital cellular phone terminal PDC. (MAX 9600bps)
Yellow adapter can be used by the cdmaone portable telephone. (MAX 14.4kbps)
Red adapter can be used by the DDI Pocket Telephone. (MAX 36.6kbps)
Green adapter can be used by the PHS (Astel, NTT DoCoMo). but, Not released.
 
It was released only in Japan. January 27, 2001 for ¥5800. Price reduced July 19, 2001 to ¥3800. Service of the mobile system GB was ended on December 14, 2002. However, PIA-to-PIA is possible.

Probably, MGB is "Mini-GameBoy".

The battery life is about 10 hours in Game Boy Color(CGB-001) or Game Boy LIGHT(MGB-101). The battery life is about 8 hours in Game Boy Pocket(MGB-001).

MGB-003 Charger It is the charger which charges a battery pack(MGB-002). The battery charge time is about 12 hours(when The battery is empty).

MGB-010 Universal Game Link Cable It is bundled with the Game Boy Printer(MGB-007) on U.S. or Europe (Limited?). It have the newer connector (for after Game Boy Pocket). The other end has a "splitter" on it that has two different cables coming out of it, the newer connector and the older(for Game Boy).

MGB-101 Game Boy LIGHT The Game Boy Pocket with a Back Light screen. It can be used by Two AA batteries only for about 12 hours(Back Light Screen is turned on) / about 20 hours(Back Light Screen is turned off). System Color is "Gold" or "Silver".
